Disney's Tomorrowland had everything it needed to succeed: powerful ensemble of actors, big production house backing it up, experienced director, and a lot of money for marketing. With everything it needed to be a blockbuster, it's a wonder how it stumbled into one of the biggest disappointments of this year. At least, that's my personal take. Based on an attraction in Disney theme parks, Tomorrowland centers on the smart daughter of a NASA engineer, Casey Newton (Britt Robertson) who tried to save a NASA rocket launcher site from demolition and later found herself in the possession of a pin, which could bring her to a land where there were endless possibilities.
Tomorrowland started really strong with very convincing special effects and touching character development. The action and chase scenes were also heart pounding. However, just like a roller coaster ride which promised a second worth of excitement, Tomorrowland ended too easily on plot development for a film that dragged for too long.
What started as "Whoa!" ended with "Meh!" Tomorrowland's plot gave it away. Special effects alone do not get people hooked. My rating for Tomorrowland is 2.5/5.
