Action comedy has never been this interesting since Rush Hour. Spy, for all it aimed to be, was a hilarious film worth watching with your family and friends (R-13). Melissa McCarthy stars as Susan Cooper, a CIA agent who aids (and secretly loves) Rick Ford (Jude Law), a stellar field agent, on his cases. "Basement Agent" Susan would find herself in hot pursuit of international terrorists out in the field to fight for the man he loves.
Melissa McCarthy didn't really need the help of big action names like Jason Statham and Jude Law, but who doesn't like seeing them together? The plot of Spy was nothing too ambitious and a bit predictable, but with a Melissa McCarthy in it, you would just keep on laughing at the edge of your seat. You would expect the usual gruff humor in the lines of McCarthy. She knows how to deliver promised laughter (except for the movie Tammy).
Needless to say, I loved watching every bit of this movie. While surrounded by bigger names in Hollywood, McCarthy's was the star that shone the brightest. My rating for Spy (2015): 4.5/5
