Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), which stars Tom Hardy in the titular role, is a visually delicious movie with a rather overly-simplistic and disappointing plot. Directed, written and produced by George Miller, the movie is set in a desert world and wasteland which has driven most people fanatics and, well, mad. I would not say I am well familiar with the franchise, which started 30 years ago, but the movie is highly recommended for people who are up for a seemingly never-ending crazy car chase.
For a generation which thinks of The Fast and The Furious, The Transporter, and Red with the mention of car chase in movies, Mad Max delivers something very different, yet equally exciting. One would not see ultra expensive cars being blown into pieces, but there is no doubt there is elegance in the way every explosion is choreographed in this movie. The bizarre appearance and culture of the characters are also something that adds a colorful theme to the blunt desert setting of Mad Max.
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) has its pool of talented actors to thank for in making the movie a critically acclaimed one. The enigmatic, but thinly spread out, plot is another thing. I could only hope that Max Max: Fury Road (2015) had more to offer than a beautifully shot two-hour car chase across the desert, but it has none.
My Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) rating is 4/5 stars.
